The ruins of the mill

The mill was built around 1810 after the abolition of feudality.

That enabled the village people to start industrial activities, till then restricted only to landowners.

In the adduction duct, the two main workplaces and the inlet-outlet pipes canals of the water are easily recognisable together with the bulkheads that adjusted the water flow and made the wheel and the millstone work.

The canal was made of stone retaining walls and goes, for a little stretch, inside a small tunnel carved out of the rock.

The mill had worked for more than a century, but because of its inconvenient place, was closed between 1920-30 and replaced by a new one supplied with electric power. The new mill was replaced on the overlying Old Main Square.
